A Day Written in Hangul ✏️
2026 Northeast Korean Writing Contest | New Jersey Korean School
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, New Jersey Korean School proudly hosted the Northeast Korean Writing Contest, bringing together 62 young writers for a day of creativity, imagination, and a shared love of the Korean language. Each student took on the challenge of turning a writing prompt into a story uniquely their own. The room may have been quiet, but the creativity was anything but! 😊
Among the many wonderful submissions, New Jersey Korean School's very own Jiyu Choi earned the Grand Prize! A huge congratulations to Jiyu on this outstanding achievement! 🎉
This year's event was especially meaningful as we celebrate 100 years since Hangul Day was first observed. It was a beautiful reminder that Hangul is more than an alphabet. It's a way for our students to share their thoughts, discover their voices, and stay connected to their Korean heritage.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Northeast regional Korean school association's leadership team for organizing this wonderful event, to all the participating schools and students for bringing their enthusiasm and talent, and to our dedicated New Jersey Korean School teachers who worked behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly.
We are also deeply grateful to Consul General Sang-ho Kim of the Republic of Korea in New York for making the trip to join us and honor this special occasion.
62 students. 62 unique voices. Countless possibilities.
We couldn't be prouder of these young writers, and we can't wait to see where their words take them next! 💛
